The 17th and 18th of July 2023, the Spanish Presidency of the Council will be bringing together the political leaders from the EU and Latin America in the EU-CELAC Summit, for the first time in over eight years. Complemented with a New Agenda for the LAC countries, the EU aims to strengthen its strategic partnership with the region, through political engagement, trade, investments and the Global Gateway instrument. Yet, how can the EU make sure protection and respect for human rights and the environment are prioritised in its trade agreements with Latin American countries? How should the EU create an inclusive partnership, with civil society at its core?
In a debate with the Greens/EFA ahead of the Summit, the EU-LAT Network will discuss these topics and their solutions at the hybrid event “EU-CELAC Strategic Partnership: A Cooperation in Need of a Paradigm Shift”.
When? Monday 3rd of July, 16.00-18.00 CEST.
Where? European Parliament (Brussels), room 7C050.
