In view of the results of the second electoral round for the presidency of Peru, from the EU-LAT Network, the Platform Europe Peru- PEP and the Coordinating Committee of Foreign Entities for International Cooperation- COEECI we request the European Union to support the rule of law in the country.
Given the messages that indicate the existence of an alleged fraud and despite the fact that the different electoral missions indicate that the second round was carried out in accordance with national and international standards, we observe with concern the current post-electoral situation in Peru. In this context, we urge the European Union to publicly show its support for the results, to maintain the electoral observation mission, to denounce unsubstantiated challenge attempts and to make a public call to close the electoral process in the country.
