On December 1st, 2022, the EU-LAT Network participated in the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly – EuroLat meeting with civil society, held in the European Parliament in Brussels. During this session, which took place as part of the meetings of the EuroLat Standing Parliamentary Committees, the EU-LAT Network was invited to speak on current challenges in Latin America and EU-Latin America relations together with other civil society organisations such as the European Coalition for Corporate Justice, Protection International and Race and Equality. The two main topics that have been discussed were the binding standards for European corporations on human rights and the environment, referring to the Due Diligence Directive on Corporate Sustainability, as well as the perspectives and challenges regarding good governance, democratic space and the right to defend rights in the Latin American region.
